Instructions and Submission Form for APTA MN Poster Presentations

APTA MN 2025 SPRING CONFERENCE- POSTER SESSION

Abstract Submission Deadline: March 12, 2025 – 11:59pm

Poster Abstract directions to be presented at the 2025 Spring APTA MN Conference are following.

Poster Presentations are reports in which information is summarized using brief written statements and graphic materials, such as photographs, charts, graphs, and diagrams, mounted on a poster board in person. Poster abstract submissions should be scholarly in nature including a minimum of 5 references (maximum of 10) from peer-reviewed literature that are cited within the abstract. The number of posters selected for presentation may be limited if there are space constraints.

Suggestions for poster content:

Research type reports, such as (but not limited to):

  • Clinical trials including pilot projects
  • Basic or applied research
  • Qualitative research
  • Systematic or scoping review of the literature
  • Research in progress with at least 50% of outcomes evaluated

Case Reports:

  • Novel case and/or intervention that has not been reported in peer-reviewed literature
  • Application of evidence-based practice approach

Scholarly based special interest reports, such as (but not limited to):

  • New thoughts on treatment theories
  • Observed or measured outcomes from a new or adapted treatment or protocols
  • Meeting patient or community needs
  • Novel educational interventions

The poster symposium is not an appropriate venue for advertisement of products or services.

By submitting an abstract, you are agreeing to abide by the following requirements:

  • You are willing to present your poster in person at the APTA MN Conference.
  • A minimum of one author and a maximum of 2 authors are asked to attend the poster during the presentation time.
  • No materials can be provided to meeting attendees from the poster presentation area with the exception of a copy of the abstract that was submitted. Authors are responsible for making their own copies.

All authors of accepted posters will receive a 25% discount code to be used at registration.

Abstract Submission Instructions for Poster Presentation

Include the following information in your abstract submission as prompted in the application:

  • TITLE OF YOUR PRESENTATION IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS
  • Each author’s last name and initials without titles or degrees, with a designated contact author.
  • The name of the institution or organization in which the work reported was done.
  • A specific statement regarding compliance with protection of participants or participant records, consent of participants in case reports or notice of IRB approval
  • Disclosure of source of funding for this project (if none, indicate “no funding”).

In your abstract submission (limit 350 words, which does not include title, subheadings and references), please utilize the subheadings listed below:

For Research Type Reports, Please Include the Following Subheadings:

  • BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: What were the major reasons for doing this study or for formulating your research hypothesis? Provide a clear statement of your purpose.
  • PARTICIPANT(S):  Describe the number and relevant characteristics of participants.
  • METHODS AND MATERIALS:  State your research design (e.g. RCT, systematic review, qualitative design) In brief, please report your methods.
  • ANALYSES: As relevant, describe the type(s) analyses used to assist you in interpreting your data.
  • RESULTS: Briefly summarize the main findings derived from your analysis. Authors must have data to report at the time of submission to be considered for presentation.
  • CONCLUSIONS/CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: What can you logically conclude through the analysis of your data? What are the implications for physical therapy practice?
  • REFERENCES: Provide a minimum of 5 references with a maximum of 10 from peer-reviewed literature ensuring appropriate citation within the abstract (AMA is recommended).

For Case Report Abstracts, Please Include the Following Subheadings:

  • BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Please provide relevant rationale for presenting this case report, along with a clear statement of your purpose.
  • CASE DESCRIPTION: Include key history and examination findings, patient evaluation, and plan of care. How did your intervention change over time?
  • OUTCOMES: What were the key outcomes for your case? (ensure reliable/valid outcome measures were used)
  • CONCLUSIONS/CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: Describe the key findings and clinical implications of your case.
  • REFERENCES: Provide a minimum of 5 references with a maximum of 10 from peer-reviewed literature ensuring appropriate citations within the abstract (AMA is recommended).

For Special Interest Reports, Please Include the Following Subheadings:

  • BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Provide relevant rationale and the major reasons for developing the new or adapted program, method, or theory?
  • DESCRIPTION: What methods, materials and principles did the project involve and how have these been developed and used?
  • OBSERVATIONS: What reactions and responses have you encountered when the program, method, or theory has been put to use?
  • CONCLUSIONS/CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: What is the significance of this work for physical therapy, and what are your suggestions for future work related to this project? What are implications for physical therapy practice/management/education/policy?
  • REFERENCES: Provide a minimum of 5 references with a maximum of 10 from peer-reviewed literature ensuring appropriate citation within the abstract (AMA is recommended).
