This award was established in 1989 to honor an APTA Minnesota member who has worked tirelessly to contribute to the physical therapy profession and to the professional association in many ways and for many years. It was renamed in 2007 to honor long-time member Marilyn Woods, in recognition of her multitude of contributions to APTA MN.
Any active APTA MN member in good standing.
The recipient will have demonstrated consistent service, dedication, and achievements over an extraordinary number of years for the physical therapy profession and the professional association in the following areas:
Is a longstanding member of the APTA.
Has contributed in education and/or research for the profession.
Has published or contributed through committee, newsletter, or community writing.
Has served in leadership positions in the profession.
Has served the professional association on various levels as a committee member, chair, officer, or director.
Has displayed special expertise in the profession.
Nominations must be recommended for the award by APTA MN members in good standing.

Nominations deadline is February 15, 2024.
Nominations must be made on an APTA MN Nomination Form. Please provide documentation of the candidate’s specific activities and contributions which qualify him/her for this award, according to the outline of the criteria. Please consider the following areas:
Active participation in the Minnesota Physical Therapy Association or the American Physical Therapy Association
Demonstration of professional stature and ethics
The effect their contributions have had on the growth of the profession
Initiative, imagination, dedication, and other professional attributes
A task force will be appointed annually by the Board of Directors. This task force will have the responsibility of evaluating the nominees and selecting the recipient.
Awards will be made only if contributors are of truly outstanding character. No more than one award will be given each year. Awards are not necessary each year.
The award will be presented at the Annual Conference
