Beth Cloud-Biebl, Bryce Beckman, and Sarah Economides from the Mayo Clinic Program in Physical Therapy presented a Platform at the APTA CSM Meeting in Anaheim. Their topic was “Development and Analysis of Neurophobia and Orthophobia Scales: A Survey Study of Physical Therapy Students.” From a sample of 106 DPT students, they concluded that the scales had an acceptable level of internal consistency and that students demonstrated higher neurophobia scores than orthophobia scores overall and across all traits. Assisting on the project were students Caleb Burleson, Ann Ellis, Sophia Rossmiller, and Joshua Arevalo.
Beth’s clinical experience is primarily in neurologic rehabilitation. Her research interests include shoulder biomechanics, spinal cord injury, and health science education.
Bryce’s research focuses on neurorehabilitation for patients with stroke, brain injury, and spinal cord injury. His clinical practice is in neurorehabilitation, working with patients following spinal cord injury and stroke/head injury.
Sarah is Board Certified as a Pediatric Clinical Specialist. She has had extensive clinical experience in pediatric physical therapy.
